RISE Program Liaison

Nashville International Center for Empowerment, established in 2005, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) ethnic community-based organization dedicated to empowering refugees and immigrants in Middle Tennessee through direct social services and educational programs. The Adult Education Coordinator will report to the Director of Education & Outreach and will work closely with education program staff. This is a full time, 40 hour position.

Major responsibilities:

  • Conducting community outreach, particularly in the Iraqi, Somali, Bhutanese, and Burmese communities
  • Recruiting clients for the RISE program
  • Conducting client intake, including testing procedures
  • Enrolling eligible clients with proper paperwork
  • Publicizing services to the greater Nashville community
  • Creating and updating computer database files
  • Maintaining adequate, up-to-date student and program records
  • Providing logistical administrative support to training programs
  • Assisting clients with resume writing and job applications
  • Referring clients to job coaching, job placement, and training programs
  • Researching opportunities and creating partnerships to assist clients in high education or job opportunities
  • Conducting follow-up for current and past clients
  • Assisting with the implementation of classes and program curricula
  • Gathering student data for clients enrolled in classes

Requirements:

  • Ability to speak Arabic and/or Kurdish
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated capability to utilize Microsoft Office software especially Word and Excel
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to adapt and respond to unforeseen challenges and issues
  • Ability to shape collaborations and partnerships with others
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks on timely matters
  • Strong written and oral English proficiency
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours on occasion, such as nights and weekends
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • High levels of self-motivation and independence
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Commitment to live and work in Nashville, Tennessee
  • Reliable transportation

COMPENSATION: Salary negotiable, paid vacation and holiday, medical reimbursement

Job type: Full-time
