Lead Case Worker

Nashville International Center for Empowerment, established in 2005, is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) ethnic community-based organization dedicated to empowering refugees and immigrants in Middle Tennessee through direct social services and educational programs. The Lead Case Worker will report to the Director of Resettlement & Operations. This is a full time, 40 hour position.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide key reports to ECDC program coordinator
  • Process Assurances in timely fashion
  • Create paper and electronic files for new arrivals
  • Oversee the collection and electronic duplication of all essential documents in client files
  • Monitor the files of all clients and direct the staff to complete against the mandated deadlines
  • Pick up arriving clients from the airport at any time along with an appropriate translator
  • Assist clients to enroll in social services
  • Support client transition to life in Nashville (take grocery shopping, setup doctor’s appointments, etc.)
  • Maintain assigned cases, detailed case files and case notes
  • Meet all mandated deadlines and requirements as stated in R&P Handbook
  • Assist team members to accomplish tasks within mandated timeframe
  • Assist clients with employment and health activities

Requirements:

  • Ability to speak one or more of the following languages: Arabic, Kurdish, Kinyarwanda or Kiswahili
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated capability to utilize Microsoft Office software especially Word and Excel
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to adapt and respond to unforeseen challenges and issues
  • Ability to shape collaborations and partnerships with others
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks on timely matters
  • Strong written and oral English proficiency
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours on occasion, such as nights and weekends
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • High levels of self-motivation and independence
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Commitment to live and work in Nashville, Tennessee
  • Reliable transportation

COMPENSATION: Salary Negotiable, paid vacation and holiday, medical reimbursement
